Therapy:
Revealing yourself to a person you do not know, no matter how impressive their credentials, takes courage and an act of faith. It is important that you trust your psychologist and essential that your therapist is insightful and highly trained. The focus in your session should be on your goals, feelings, thoughts, and relationships of import. Together we will explore your attempted solutions to problems, where you feel strong, where you don’t. Therapy is designed to give you specific tools, techniques, a map, so you can be self-directed. Therapy can be a transforming process as it opens up the possibility of change in every critical aspect of your life.
Psychological Testing:
If you have ever been curious about your personality, intelligence, memory, possible neuropsychological problems due to a brain injury or head trauma then you might be a candidate for psychological testing. Assessments can also help guide your children and their academic career. It’s also important to rule out learning disorders and ADD/ADHD because the wrong diagnosis can lead to unnecessary medications and misguided treatment. Testing can also help you with your career and give you feedback from fellow employees. I have vast experience delivering 360 degree wrap around tests which involve getting feedback from peers, superiors, and people you supervise.
EMDR:
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing originally crafted by Francine Shapiro at Stanford University is an effective way to unfreeze blocked memories, work through trauma, and reconstruct the meaning of painful events so that you can move forward.
Thought Field Therapy:
Energy Psychology is an emerging field based on the principles of acupressure and acupuncture. The premise behind this is that we all have energy meridians that can get blocked if we become overly anxious, depressed, or experience other destabilizing emotions. This technique teaches you to tap (in lieu of an acupuncture needle or other form of pressure) specific areas of your own body to release pent up emotions. Similar to EMDR there is a reconstructive process that allows you to objectify your feelings and experiences.
Biofeedback:
With the aid of a biofeedback machine you can get instant feedback when you learn to relax, change your thoughts, and manage your emotions. This process can be used to manage panic and anxiety symptoms, eliminate phobias, and get rid of headaches.
Executive Coaching:
Coaching is different than therapy. Although both relationships are confidential in nature, supportive, and goal directed, coaching focuses more on your work than your mental health. Coaching can help you improve work relationships, manage conflicts, and realize your career goals. I have coached leaders in biotech, high tech, telecommunication, academic, industrial, mental health, and religious settings. In addition, I have done extensive team building and conflict mediation training for Fortune 500 companies. Together we will design practical strategies to help you maximize your job performance and reinvigorate your career. Click here to view Dr. Bramson’s Resume
